On match day 2, Edsel Ford’s varsity girls’ soccer team welcomed Wyandotte to a home game that did not disappoint. The scoreboard opened up very early on with a penalty goal taken by Senior Captain Maisy Gerlach (#21). Not long after, Senior Captain Nicole Grimaldo (#9) scored her first goal of the night and assisted Maisy in achieving a hat trick (3 goals) by the end of the first half. Edsel’s Thunderbirds were just getting started after a first-half score of 4-1.
In the second half, the Thunderbirds never let their guard down and continued to dominate. The team’s work ethic displayed crisp offensive plays and a strong defensive side, culminating in Maisy scoring another goal and 3 more for Nicole. All these additional goals were assisted by Senior Captains Vincia DeSantis (#20), Mackenzie Grizzell (#13), and Sophomore Alexis Szelag (#14).
The final score was an impressive 8-3, marking Edsel’s second consecutive win in their first two games. It was an all-around incredible performance that promises a bright rest of the 2025 spring season for the girls.
