New Black Student Union Club at Edsel Ford

New Black Student Union Club at Edsel Ford

Jason Cadoura, 11th Grade

Mrs. Sweetnich and Mr. Brooks have started a new club at Edsel Ford High School to help create more opportunities for students. The club, titled the Black Student Union, is located in room E-12. The club meets every Wednesday after school. The club’s activities are created by the students and “has been a great experience so far,” according to Mrs. Sweetnich.

Mrs. Sweetnich and the students have talked about current events. They have also shared personal stories and discussed movies that they might watch in the club. Mrs. Sweetnich loves the club because she got to meet new people and she enjoyed talking with everyone. I interviewed 11th grader Tori Nixon who enjoys the club. “It’s a very nice club and everyone should join.” She states that they talk about issues that affect African-Americans. She describes the club as fun, interesting, and informative.  They have about eight people who have already signed up to join the club so feel free to stop by on Wednesdays!
