Over $300 Raised at Women Empowerment Cookie Fundraiser

The newest club here at Edsel Ford, The Women’s Empowerment Club, recently held a Cookie Decorating fundraiser. The fundraiser was dedicated to benefit Women for Women International, who are currently working to support women throughout Gaza. Presidents Sofia Sancen-Lopez and Yasmeen Saeed thought Cookie Decorating would be perfect just in time for Valentine’s Day. Over $300 were raised for the charity, and it was a great activity to kick off our Charity Week.

“We wanted to have an event where we could all be together, have fun, and still support an important cause,” says Sofia Sancen-Lopez.

The fundraiser itself was held in the Edsel Ford cafeteria, where club members and ticket buyers were able to decorate cookies while raising money. All proceeds from sold tickets and direct donations during the event will go towards Women for Women International.

When I interviewed Yasmeen Saeed at the event, she said, “I’m really happy about the turn out and how many people were able to come and support. We were also able to make a lot of donations towards a very important cause, which we are all very happy and excited about.”
